Matched by Ally Condie

Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander’s face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham’s face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it’s a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she’s destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can’t stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society’s infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

REVIEW –

October 17, 2012

I was only in the first few pages and I was like, should I go on reading this one?  The negative reviews were hanging around my neck.  Or maybe, as I would discover yet, I don’t like dystopia at all.  But I’ve watched Hunger Games before I even recognize (and appreciate) dystopia and I was, can I finish this one without having to finish several books before I eventually finish this one?  Redundant.  Redundancy.  Back to, should I finish this one?  Then I read this review about building relationship rather than instant love-at-first-sight/you-complete-me in a few weeks time which is usual in fiction world and I was like, okay, I think I’m going to give this another try.  Will update you later.  I’m still thinking if I like dystopia after all.
