2014 Reading Challenges

I have decided to put my 2014 reading challenges in one post since it was too much work updating everything in different posts.  So here’s a long list of the reading challenges I decided to take on just for the sake of feeling overwhelmed the rewards of accomplishment.  I would just take on the least books for each reading challenge as I would want to extend/expand my genres (I’m kind of stuck with YA last year).

Reading the Paranormal - 2014 Seriously Series Reading Challenge

Read a fairy tale retelling or a book with fey/fairies in it.
Apr– Short & Sweet
Read a collection of short stories or anthologies.
May– Mystery, Murder, & Mayhem
Read a murder/mystery book, a book in which someone dies of mysterious causes, or a book in which a mystery must be solved.
June–  A Long Journey
Read a book in which the character(s) take a trip, go on a quest, or find themselves on a journey toward something, etc.

There’s been a lot of zombies lately, but this year include a ‘witchy’ book in your scary reads- a book about a witch or a book that has witches in it.
Nov– An Oldie but a Goodie
Pick a book published before 2000 that you’ve always wanted to read, but just never got to. Or pick a book set in the past (before 2000).
Dec– That’s a Wrap
Finish a series you’ve been meaning to finish or read the next book in a series you started but never finished.

2014 Read Your Freebies! Reading ChallengeI’ve read some freebies last year, mostly downloaded from Amazon and Barnes and Noble through BookBub. Now, I have not downloaded anything but plan to read the ones I’ve had last year.  There are too many freebies to last me a year!

2014 Standalone Reading Challenge

I Love Library Books is a challenge to borrow and read library books. Me, I am a patron of library books because most of the time, I borrow and read from the library first before I would buy the book.  Weird, right? But, that way, I know which one are keepers.  That way, I know which book to buy when there are book sales.  How about you?
