Summer Reading

via Hermitage High School

School is almost over, and right now I’m racking my brain on the books I want my kids to read even though it was encouraged that kids should choose the books they want to read. Oh well, they might want to read the books I’ve already queued from the library.

My First wanted to read the Heroes of Olympus series, so I’m good with that.  My concern would go to my Second, who would prefer not to open a book this summer as he’s looking forward to playing.  Well, even with that, I planned to give Second my choice of books, and I found an awesome site just for that with a ton of summer reading recommendations.
The site was a program from Pizza Hut called BookItProgram. There’s a list of schools that participate in the program, but I didn’t find my kids’ schools, so I couldn’t enroll or join in the challenges.  Nevertheless, it has a variety of great lists that one can refer to listed from Pre-K to 12th grade.  That alone is fine with me.

These might not look extensive, but they are, especially for my reluctant readers.  I just hope I find books in this website that they would love, and encourage them to read more.
